VMEngine – COLD Test
is a system for monitoring combustion engines during the end of line controls on assembly line. Compared to a HOT Test, that is an engine hot test with combustion, COLD Test involves the engine entrainment at low temperature by an electric motor.
The system consists of a trolley rack or a PC-cabinet placed on the assembly line and integrated with the line supervisor. It measures and analyzes the engine vibrations in the test cycle – and other variables when requested (for instance inner cylinder pressure) – to identify the condition of the internal components.
It processes indexes linked to many kinds of defects (displacements, excessive allowance, abnormal impacts, etc.): these rates are compared to statistically defined thresholds of acceptability to define the OK or NON OK status of the piece.
